Masterclasses
The Dance Collective regularly hosts dance professionals from NYC, Southern California, and elsewhere, to enrich dance training for our students. These industry professionals bring expertise often not available locally to our studio. From Rosero McCoy who choreographs music videos in Hollywood in addition to dancing himself to Thayne Jasperson who currently performs in Hamilton on Broadway, the breadth of real world experience our students are exposed to is profound.
Additionally our guest dance artists identify students they feel would be appropriate for our annual competitions. Their expertise and real world experience give them exceptional abilities to identify early talent. We are grateful for their ongoing support in this regard.

Michael’s classes are always such an incredible opportunity for our dancers. He brings so much energy, knowledge, and professional experience into the room, while challenging dancers to push themselves, take risks, and grow as performers.

I am incredibly excited to welcome THAYNE JASPERSON back to The Dance Collective on September 24th!
Thayne is an original cast member of HAMILTON on Broadway, and his professional career spanning Broadway, television, film, and some of the biggest stages in the industry. Our dancers have the opportunity to learn directly from someone who knows firsthand what it takes to work at this level and I get to bring that experience right into my studio.
What makes these masterclasses especially meaningful to me is that Thayne has been working with TDC for TEN YEARS!
This isn’t someone who simply comes in once a year to teach a class. Thayne has developed a real relationship with my studio and our dancers over the past decade. For the last five years, he has also choreographed competition solos and group dances for TDC, working closely with the dancers and becoming an important part of their training.
Those relationships have extended far beyond TDC.
Thayne has uses TWO TDC alumni in Broadway’s Red Bucket Follies and one TDC alum in the Easter Bonnet Competition on Broadway!
THAT is why I believe so strongly in giving the dancer access to working professionals.
Of course the dancers are learning choreography, but they’re also learning how to walk into a room and adapt. How to pick up material quickly. How to take corrections. How to perform with confidence. How to work professionally. They’re developing relationships with people who are actively, working in the industry.
I’ve actually watched those relationships create opportunities for TDC dancers.
For our littlest dancers, these experiences are an incredible way to start building confidence early, I want them to discover that taking class from someone new isn’t scary, it’s FUN! They get to experience new movement, new energy and a teacher who has spent his career performing at an extraordinary level.
For the older dancers, these rooms are an essential part of their education. Whether they eventually want to attend competitions, intensives, college programs, auditions or pursue dance professionally, they need experience walking into rooms with a different choreographers and being able to learn, adapt and perform.
You absolutely do not need to be a competition dancer to participate. You don’t need to have professional aspirations. If your dancer loves to dance, this opportunity is for them.
Having access to an artist with Thayne’s experience without traveling to NYC or LA is something I never take for granted.
Ten years with TDC. Five years creating competition choreography for TDC dancers. Two TDC alumni given opportunities to perform in Broadway events.
Those things don’t happen from attending one masterclass. They coming from building relationships, showing up, working hard, and continuing to put yourself in rooms where you can learn and grow.
Thats one of the biggest reasons I continue bringing these incredible artists to TDC.
You never know where one class, one connection, or one opportunity might lead.
